A new semester at School of Ministry, Oroville is starting on September 5th! We've interviewed two students; Kim, who is part of the new class, on why she's giving up the next six months of her life to start this new adventure; and Christina, a recent graduate, on why the school changed her life.
But first, here's what School of Ministry, Oroville is all about:
Six Months That Could Change Your Life
School of Ministry, Oroville (SoM) is a 6 month school aimed at taking each person on an adventure of a lifetime as they gain an understanding of God’s love and how that loves impacts their life. It provides hands on training as well as teaching to cause total transformation!
Monday to Friday is packed full of goodness: classes in the morning, training in the afternoon, mentoring, church services, opportunities to volunteer on outreaches and so much more! Helping the homeless, feeding the hungry, visiting the elderly, and being part of children’s ministry are only a few of the opportunities where what’s learned in school can be poured out on to others.
SoM explores a different topic every month. Month one is salvation; learning about what 'being saved' really means and how it affects a persons life. From there, students learn about healing the heart, love, discipleship, vision, and outreach, all in the aim of developing deeper intimacy with God.
It truly is a life changing opportunity! If you need to see change and transformation in your own life, then this is the place for you! Change is possible. Growth is possible. Hope is real. It's never too late to apply; to try something different that will transform your life for the better.
If you need any more convincing, here are Kim and Christina to explain what School of Ministry is all about:
Interview With a New School of Ministry Student: Kim
Why did you decide to do School of Ministry?
“I decided to do it because I didn’t know Jesus and God very well, and i need more time to ingrain that information in me. I just want to develop a greater relationship with Jesus and Father God. I want to be around people who walk out Jesus' teaching on a daily basis.”
What do you hope to get out of being part of School of Ministry?
“I hope to be able to stand firm in the foundation I have set. To develop relationship, and to grow closer to this community I’m in. To be more involved and also walk out the standard that Jesus has asked us to live by. I want to be made well and be healed. Growing closer to Jesus will allow Him to heal those hurt parts of my life.”
Interview With a School of Ministry Graduate: Christina
What month/module stood out to you the most?
“Discipleship because I had to learn to surrender and give up control which was hard for me, but it ended up being the most rewarding. I got to decide that I really did want to follow Jesus and that meant He was in charge and I had to do whatever He said.”
What was your favorite part of being in school?
“I loved how our class became a family. How we got to go through it all together.”
How has going through School of Ministry impacted you the most?
“It has given me an opportunity to find out more about who Jesus is and what that makes me and it’s also given me a foundation of truth. I used to be really confused before I did school and I’m not anymore. Also, from this process I've been on a journey of learning to trust Jesus more and more.”
