At The Father's House Church, change takes place every 6 months with the start of a new School of Ministry class, as well as the start of a new season for many interns moving on in their apprenticeship.
This is exciting and thrilling, all while at times filled with nervous anticipation!
You see, the beginning of something new is also marked by the ending of a past season.
To us, this means getting all dolled up for our graduation ceremony! Together, we applaud and celebrate our friends and family who are being honored.
We recently had a graduation, and as I watched, cheered and applauded for those around me as well as myself, I was struck with one re-occuring thought; this is only just the beginning! A platform for all of us to take off from! This isn't where any of us end or declare we've arrived. This isn't where we give up or stop trying, but rather we honor the journey we've been on and the journey we're going to embark on next.
At graduation we're saying "You've grown so much. You've succeeded. You've changed. You look so much more like who you're meant to be." But we're also saying, "It's time for the next grand adventure."
Looking like Jesus and being His disciple is a process and a decision to continually press on. Every day we put loving others into action so that when others see us, they see Jesus.
So, though a graduation is a celebration-worthy event, the best part of it is seeing where we've just come from, then looking forward at the road ahead of us knowing that there's more.
Greater change. Greater action. Greater growth. Greater desire to love. Greater desire to be loved. And greater hope!
A new season. A new chance, and what a chance it is.
And while I do say congratulations to all graduates, I also say, what's next? What are you focused on? And can you imagine who you'll be at the end of this new season if you just keep pressing on?
Let the change begin!
